Why TRUJO exists (and why now).

2026-05-094 min· Juan José Trujillo Cardozo

I have spent five years watching the same pattern across Colombian SMBs: they spend money on imported software built for markets that look nothing like ours, customize it halfway, abandon it once they realize support replies two weeks later, and go back to Excel.

Excel always wins. Not because it is a good solution but because the alternative is worse.

TRUJO TECHNOLOGIES was incorporated on January 16, 2026 around a simple thesis: Colombian enterprise software, built and operated by engineers who understand what it means to serve an institutional dining hall at 5am, what it means to lose a client because the WhatsApp bot did not answer during a rush, what it means to invoice electronically with DIAN without the OAuth flow breaking on the 28th.

We do not sell slides. We do not have fabricated tenure — the company is months old, not decades. What we have is:

Real production deployments. Three active clients across Cundinamarca and Tolima. Over 1,300 biometric heartbeats per week reaching our servers. A public map anyone can verify. Our own infrastructure. We do not resell rebranded AWS. We run a VPS in Germany with 60+ Docker containers, 24/7 monitoring, daily offsite backups. The transparency of that is in /trust. A single technical owner. When a client calls, they do not reach an outsourced call center. They reach the person who signs the code and the SLA.

Why now? Because accessible AI models + low infra costs + a Colombian SMB market that knows it needs to digitize but cannot find options that do not treat it as a marginal-margin afterthought — that combination is now. Within three years the big players will absorb the mid-market. Today there is a window to build something different.

What is coming on this blog: posts about what we learn while building. Architecture decisions without marketing filter. Mistakes we made. Real numbers. No generic "thought leadership."

If this sounds useful, write to us. If it sounds wrong, even better — tell us where.
